This is a 3 hour course designed for non medically trained civilians. Based on the principles of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), participants learn to recognize the 3 most probable causes of preventable prehospital death due to penetrating trauma – hemorrhage, airway obstruction and tension pneumothorax – and the appropriate treatments. While the likelihood of sustaining a gunshot wound is low in American society, participants learn that it does not matter if the penetrating trauma is due to a gun shot, a stabbing, a motor vehicle accident, or a fall through the plate glass window, the treatment is the same. At the conclusion of the course, students will have an understanding of the evaluation and treatment options for these 3 types of injuries.

This course is sponsored by USLawShield (www.USLawShield). The course is available nationally. For a course near you, go to: https://www.uslawshield.com/seminar/ and select “Emergency First Aid for Gunshot Wounds” to find a course.
