Our Story

Shortly after the 9/11 terror events, Dr. Hammesfahr was recruited by US Special Operations Command to help develop medical protocols for their Special Operations Medics. During the 10 years that he worked with them, he was approached by a number of law enforcement agencies to advise their Tactical Teams on developing a Tactical Medical Team (Tactical Emergency Medical Services – TEMS) that could support the SWAT teams in a hostile environment, using the principles developed for the military.

From those experiences, as world events developed and the number of Active Shooter/Domestic Terror incidents increased, the number of civilian dead and wounded also increased. It became obvious that the lifesaving skills that were being taught to Tactical Military and Law Enforcements units should also be taught to civilians who could then treat themselves or others using the principles of self aid/buddy aid (SABA) and Tactical Medicine.

As a result, Tactical Medical Consulting was formed with an instructor team experienced in both Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC). These programs allow non-medical civilians to be trained in the life saving interventions in the case of hemorrhage, airway obstruction, and chest injury.
